Darwin song
by: Jon Cole
with apologies to Jimmy Cliff
By the waters of Tenderfoot
Where we lay down
And we once slept
We remember Darwin
Oh the wicked
Carry us away from old Darwin
Required to tear it down
How can we have our Sacred Porch
In a strange dorm
Let the words of our mouth
And the meditations of our heart
Find and acceptable way to seek
Sweet Revenge

In the summer of 2009, Cascade lost a dear friend...
Darwin cabin was gutted, ruthlessly demolished,
and wiped from earthly existance.
Darwin Cabin, you will forever be in our memories and hearts.

The Ruin of Darwin Cabin
by: SRC
with apologies to Oliver Wendell Holmes
Oh tear the rustic cabin down
Long has it perched on high
All eyes on the porch have danced to see the
Eagle soaring by.
Beneath her lay Lake Tenderfoot
With musky and walleye galore
The jewel of the lake lands
Shall scan the clouds no more.
Her fireplace where we warmed our toes
The mantel with famous glass
Where mice ran wild beneath our nose
While Jim spun tales of bass
No more shall feel our waders’ tread
Or share a Northern bake.
The vultures of the Dome have plucked the
Eagle of the lake.
Prepare the earthen oven
And lead the Long Pig down
The timbers of the cabin
Shall roast him in the ground.
Post to the tree our memories
Burn every board and nail
And give her to the raging storm
The lightning and the gale.
